Powershare home backup · Model 3, Model Y & Cybertruck

Your driveway is now a power plant.

When the grid goes down, Powerwall 3 takes over automatically and your car keeps it going for days. No fuel to store, no engine to start, no noise.

The battery in your garage is bigger than most home batteries. With Powershare and Powerwall 3, it works for your house when you need it and drives you to work when you don't.

How it works

Three steps between you and a dark house

1

The grid goes down

Powerwall 3 senses the outage and takes over automatically, so your lights, fridge and Wi-Fi stay on.

2

Your car steps in

Plugged into a Universal or Gen 3 Wall Connector, a compatible car shares its battery with your home through Powershare.

3

Recharge and repeat

When the grid comes back, everything recharges. Add solar and you can recharge during a long outage too.

Before you get a quote

Does your car support Powershare?

Check in 30 seconds from the driver's seat.

  1. On the touchscreen, tap Controls (or Settings), then Software.
  2. Tap Additional Vehicle Info.
  3. Look for Powershare Support: Enabled.
Don't see "Enabled"? A software update won't add it, because the feature depends on hardware built into the car. Powerwall 3 still backs up your home on its own, and we can install a Wall Connector for fast charging. Not sure? Mention it in your quote request and we'll help you check.

*Tesla estimates a Model 3 or Model Y adds over two days of backup for a home using 30 kWh a day, starting from a 90% charge; Cybertruck's larger battery goes further. Backup duration varies with vehicle state of charge, home energy use and conditions. Powershare home backup requires a compatible vehicle, Powerwall 3, and a Universal or Gen 3 Wall Connector. Powershare support depends on vehicle hardware and can't be added with a software update. U.S. Model 3 and Model Y vehicles ordered on or after October 1, 2026 are capable. Earlier vehicles vary, so confirm under Software > Additional Vehicle Info. All Cybertruck vehicles are supported. Model S and Model X are not currently supported. Blossom Solar is an independent Tesla Energy Certified Installer. Tesla, Powerwall, Powershare, Wall Connector, Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck are trademarks of Tesla, Inc.
